He has recently been honored with 2nd place in the Dean’s Award at LCC; “Father And Son” (image on the right) with a League Of Innovation winner (the league is composed of 20 community colleges.); and “The Worker” (shown below) won the Jurors Award–the top prize–in the recent, 2012 Juried Student Art Exhibition. 

Daniel will be completing his Masters in Fine Art at The University of Oregon while continuing his many other endeavors.

Lane Arts Council has selected his exhibit as the final stop in the guided tour for July.  We hope to see you at the show!

“Nature’s Recompositions”

In this vein, I take photographic slides of my former works of art (most recently some works of other photographic artists) and expose them for a period of time to the elements of Nature. They become tiny plots of land for microscopic plant, insect, and mineral activity, which form landscape-abstractions through their life lived on the emulsion of the slides.

The slides are then scanned and printed in their totality as large photographic/digital works, revealing the lived micro-landscape/vestige of photographic composition palpably on the “surface” of the photographic plane of the prints.

Here are my compositions as Nature augmented and refined them. Aside from the wonder I feel at their compositional balance and beauty, I find that they illuminate many issues, such as: Nature’s resilience, Nature as artist in its perfect compositional power, and Nature as appropriator of Culture.
